Holidays in Greece

Greece is a true holiday paradise. With azure seas, golden beaches, and ancient wonders, Greek culture shines brightly. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing family getaway or vibrant party nights, a holiday in Greece has it all.

A country full of surprises

Greece is a fascinating destination, especially for nature lovers, history buffs and food enthusiasts. You probably associate Greece with the timeless beauty and grandeur of the Acropolis in Athens. The perfect starting point is Monastiraki Square. At the foot of the Acropolis and in the heart of Athens' Old Town, this lively area is filled with tavernas, boutiques and speciality shops.

Tourists from all over the world flock to the 4.5 kilometre promenade along Thessaloniki's waterfront. As you stroll, you'll come across places of interest such as the White Tower, the Umbrellas sculpture and small gardens with sports facilities, playgrounds and cafes. If it's the sea you're after, head to the stunning islands of Crete and Kos.

Must-see Greek islands

Ancient meets modern: Greece has a wealth of enchanting places to visit. A single holiday in Greece is unlikely to be enough to see it all, which is a perfect reason to visit again and again. We'd like to introduce you to four stunning islands that will stay with you long after your visit.

Crete

Chania, Heraklion, Rethymno and Aghios Nikolaos. Crete beckons with its vibrant cities and many highlights. Magical beaches, vibrant nightlife and historic sites such as the ruins of Knossos make a holiday to Crete unforgettable.

Santorini

Whitewashed houses, blue domes and dramatic cliffs. Santorini's landscape really does look like the postcards. Couples flock to the ruins of Lontza Castle in Oia to watch the famous sunset. The town of Fira also has a picturesque harbour and narrow streets.

Corfu Ruins Paleopolis

Corfu

Is this still Greece or Italy? The architecture reflects the influence of its former ruler, the Republic of Venice. A holiday in Corfu is filled with olive groves and hidden coves. Be sure to visit the Achilleion, a palace built for the Austrian Empress Elisabeth, better known as Sisi.

Rhodes

Rhodes offers a mix of medieval charm, ancient ruins, and dreamy beaches. The UNESCO-listed Old Town, with its winding streets and enchanting squares, is a must-see, while the harbour town of Lindos impresses with its ancient Acropolis and stunning views.

When is the best time to visit?

The best time to visit Greece for a beach holiday is between May and October. Hotels in Greece tend to be more expensive in July and August, but become cheaper again in mid-September, when the water is still warm enough, depending on the region.

The best months for sightseeing and hiking are February to May and September to November. Temperatures are milder and perfect for outdoor activities.

Spectacular things to do in Greece

There's no chance of getting bored while on holiday in Greece. This diverse country is one of the world's most popular destinations for good reason.

Corfu Ruins Paleopolis

Visit ancient Greek sites

If you love exploring history, Greece is a real treasure trove. From ancient Thira on Santorini to the ruins of Paleopolis on Corfu, the list of fascinating ancient sites in Greece is long.

Go island hopping

Can't decide on an island for your Greek holiday? Island hopping reveals the diversity of Greek culture. Whether you're exploring the Dodecanese from Rhodes to Kos, from Santorini to Crete, or hopping between the Ionian Islands from Zakynthos to Corfu – there's so much to discover.

Try some water sports

Warm sunshine combined with strong winds and crystal clear waters make the Greek islands perfect for water sports. From jet skiing, diving and sailing to windsurfing, if you're looking to stay active while on holiday, Greece won't disappoint.

Relax on the beaches

Lounging by the Greek seas is a truly unique experience. With fine sandy beaches and calm turquoise waters, you'll find pure enjoyment under the Mediterranean sun. On the beach, you can relax with an ice-cold frappé and enjoy the Greek lifestyle.

Greece's most beautiful beaches

Elafinissi Beach, Pink Beach, Greece, Crete

Elafonissi Beach, Crete

Be amazed by the pink sands of Elafonissi Beach on the island of Crete, which has repeatedly been voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The lagoon is equally impressive with its Caribbean flair, shallow waters and constant wind - ideal for windsurfers!

Tsambika Beach, Rhodes

Tsambika Beach on Rhodes offers turquoise waters and golden sand. The coastline sits below cliffs overlooked by the Tsambika Monastery. Despite its popularity, the beach is rarely crowded.

Glyfada Beach on Korfu

Considered one of the most romantic sunsets on the island, Glyfada Beach in Corfu is ideal for families and couples looking for peace and quiet, while the water sports on offer add an element of excitement.

Paradise Beach on Kos

If it's fun and action you're after, Paradise Beach in Kos is the place to be - the island's most famous beach, loved for its sandy shores and clear waters. Be prepared for it to get pretty crowded in high season.
